JOE Godson struck twice as Shipston Excelsior continued their rise up the Midland League Division Three table with victory over AFC Solihull on Saturday.

Godson's double along with singles from Lewis Fathers and Alex Welsby guided Steve Hedderman's free-scoring side to a 4-2 victory at London Road.

Alcester Town were denied a share of the points after they went down to a last-gasp winner against Montpellier at Stratford Road.

In a game that saw two Alcester players and one Montpellier player sent off, Stuart Hendrie netted the winner in the last minute as the game appeared to be heading for a goalless draw.
