SHIPSTON Excelsior ended their season on a winning note with a 2-0 victory over Alcester Town at London Road on Bank Holiday Monday.

It was Shipston's eighth win in their last nine games and moves them above Alcester into sixth in Midland League Division Three.

Tom Coles and Jake Harris were the men on target for Steve Hedderman's side.

Shipston suffered a rare defeat two days earlier against FC Stratford, who are finishing their season with a flourish.

Stratford beat their local rivals 2-0 thanks to strikes from Ashley Wilkes and Paul Halfpenny, while they followed it up on Monday with an excellent 2-1 success at league leaders Leamington Hibernian.

Chris Cottrell and Jay Tilbury got the winning goals as Stratford boosted their hopes of finishing in fourth.

Alcester Town hit back from a goal down to beat Northfield Town 2-1 thanks to goals from Robbie Davies and Matt Trinder.

Saturday's Midland League Division One action saw relegated Southam United thrashed 7-1 at Coventry Copsewood.

Littleton also suffered a heavy defeat, losing 5-1 at home to on-song Hinckley AFC.

Racing Club Warwick ended their season in style with a 2-1 victory over Lichfield City.

Wade Malley's double also ensured the Racers their place in the FA Cup next season.

Studley went down 3-0 to newly-crowed champions Coventry United.

In Midland League Division Two, Earlswood Town were thrashed 7-0 at high-flying Chelmsley Town on Monday.
