Weekend football round-up: Shipston in seventh heaven
SHIPSTON Excelsior moved up to sixth in Midland League Division Three after securing a record seventh victory on the trot at Northfield Town on Saturday.
Pat Fetherston (2), Joe Godson and Nick Shurmer got the goals as Shipston edged out Northfield 4-3 at Shenley Lane.
Shipston go above Alcester Town, who drop to seventh after going down 2-1 to Barton United.
Kieran Downey gave Alcester the lead, but goals from Peter Martin and George Stack saw Barton claim the points.
FC Stratford got their season back on track with a 3-1 success at Coventrians.
Dean Poulson, Ben Hill and Dalitso Ngoma got the goals for Stratford, who go fourth.
In Midland League Division One, Southam United suffered their heaviest defeat for many a season when visitors Hinckley AFC scored 13 without reply.
With a number of players deciding to leave after the midweek loss to Lichfield City and James Keller standing down as manager, chairman Charles Hill took charge of team affairs. Saints started with just ten men, including Keller, who played despite the head wound he suffered at Heather St James the previous Saturday.
Racing Club Warwick got back into winning ways with a solid performance at Pilkington. The Racers won 1-0 thanks to Wade Malley's second-half effort.
Chris Conway's double saw Littleton triumph 2-0 at Bolehall Swifts, while Studley saw off Heath Hayes 3-1 thanks to strikes from Matthew Edwards, Kiel Mullen and Gary Turner.
Earlswood Town made it back-to-back victories in Midland League Division Two with a 1-0 win over Fairfield Villa. Joe Casey headed home the winner four minutes from time.
