Wiltshire wilt under Warwickshire pressure
WARWICKSHIRE Ladies came out on top in their annual friendly bowls match against Wiltshire at Wellesbourne.
Warwickshire won on all six rinks, with a final result of 126-79.
Highest winning rink went to Pat Bax (Rugby Ladies) with Margaret Boldy (Avon), Jean Williams (Stratford) and Rosemarie Geden (Southam), who picked up five shots on the fourth end to give themselves a boost from which they never really looked back, finishing 28-10.
Meanwhile, the outdoor season opener for the South Warwickshire BA saw them stroll to a 151-57 victory over the Gloucestershire VPs at Bidford-on-Avon BC.
The game was a perfect start for 2017 President of SWBA, Peter Vale-Humphreys, whose home club is Avon BC, where he is club captain this year.
The day’s highest winning rink of Mike Davies, Barry Shipton, Trevor Briggs and Steve Gadd won 48-5.
Not far behind were Royston Andrews, Mark Neville, Ray White and Trevor Bennet, who cruised to a 41-8 victory. South Warwickshire’s other rinks were also successful; David Vowles 21-15, Bill Sabin 23-13 and Dick Allibon 18-16.
