Box office opens for Box of Delights Christmas show at RSC in Stratford




THE Royal Shakespeare Company’s festive family show is now open for bookings.

The Box of Delights is this year’s production, which will run in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre between 31st October and 7th January.

Adapted by Piers Torday from the 1935 novel by John Masefield, The Box of Delights follows orphaned schoolboy Kay Harker who finds himself the guardian of a small wooden box with powers beyond his wildest dreams.

Caught up in a battle between two powerful magicians, Kay fights to save not just the people he loves but also the future of Christmas itself.

The story was adapted by the BBC for television in the 1980s.

The RSC’s production is being directed by Justin Audibert, artistic director of Chichester Festival Theatre and former artistic director of London’s Unicorn Theatre for children.

His previous RSC productions include The Taming of the Shrew (2019) and The Jew of Malta (2015). The show is being designed by RSC Associate Artist, Tom Piper,
